The fun doesn’t have to end when your wedding day does! A day after wedding photo session is a great way to keep the adventure going, and to celebrate some more. It also has a few perks that can add to the entire experience of your day(s), so in this guide, we’ll talk about day after adventure sessions, and why you should plan one!
Here’s what you’ll find in the blog:
A day after photo session is when the couple puts on their wedding attire again, to take photos after the wedding! This usually happens, as you can guess, the day after, but you can totally take an entire weekend, or even a few days for your adventure. Planning a “mini moon,” where you spend a few days exploring or adventuring around with your photographer can be really special, and you’ll have some amazing photos of those memories!
The “adventure” part of an adventure session can be absolutely anything you want it to be – hop on a flight somewhere tropical, take a hike somewhere epic, or just spend a day relaxing at a dope treehouse.
Here are a few reasons that I recommend all couples consider a day after adventure session or even a mini moon!
You spent a whole lot of shmoney for that dress or that suit, so put it to work! A day after photo session allows you to wear your wedding attire again, which is always tons of fun – and this time, you won’t have to worry about keeping it clean for the ceremony.
A day after adventure session is so amazing for couples who planned a big wedding – because you can get the best of both worlds! An incredible day celebrating with the people you love most, and then having a more intimate day, where you get to just be together, having whatever adventure you choose.
Even if you had an elopement or an intimate wedding, a day after adventure session or a mini moon can still be for you! Many couples can’t imagine tying the knot without their family or their closest friends around, but they still want that intimate, private experience that’s shared just between them.
You can have one day for your ceremony and to celebrate with your loved ones, then take off for an adventure of your own! This is so much less stressful than trying to squeeze everything into one day, and it gives you more time with your loved ones, and with each other.
Wedding days can get a little hectic – you’re running from place to place, making sure everything goes smoothly and that you have time for everything you’ve got planned. While it’s fun, and it’s exhilarating, it’s also a lot! Having a day after adventure session can make it feel a little less stressful, for a few reasons.
First, since you’ll be taking couples photos afterwards, you won’t have to worry about that on your wedding day. This leaves more time in your timeline for other things, or even just for relaxing and taking a few minutes to yourselves! Now, this doesn’t mean you won’t have any photos of the two of you on your actual wedding day or that you won’t get as many photos – we’ll definitely still do that, but you won’t need as much time, which gives you more flexibility with the timeline on your wedding day.
Most couples haven’t had professional photos taken before – or they have, once, when they did their engagement session. It’s totally normal to feel nervous about it, and on your wedding day, there might still be a little bit of anxiety about being in front of the camera, especially when you add that onto everything else you have to think about that day!
But, with a day after adventure session, you’re already warmed up – and meeting up with your wedding photographer again means that you already feel like old friends. It’ll be much more comfortable, and you’ll feel like a pro. This, along with the fact that you’re less stressed overall, will lead to authentic photos of the two of you just having fun!
For your day after wedding photo session, you can go anywhere – which means you can get an epic backdrop for these photos! This gives you some variety for your wedding photos, and it also gives you a chance to choose a spot that really reflects the two of you, whether that’s mountains, deserts, or beaches.
The day you get married is a big deal! But, here’s the thing – the memories you make on your mini moon, and how you celebrate together in the first few days of marriage deserve to be documented. It’s just as much a part of your story, and having these photos to look back on in five, ten, fifty years will be absolutely priceless. When you flip through your album, you’ll see the entire story of your wedding unfold – from getting ready on the big day to the adventures you have on the day after.
The day after adventure session isn’t about just showing up for some posed photos – it’s about the adventure! So, you should do something that reflects who you are as a couple, and plan an experience that you’ll truly love.
Every couple is unique, so the perfect day for you might not be the same as a perfect day for someone else! Think about what you truly want to do after you get married – is it an epic adventure, or a more relaxed day? How do you want to celebrate together?
There are endless possibilities, but here are just a few ideas:
